SHERBURNE
Owner: LDWF (11,800 acres, Lafayette Office); U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service (15,220 acres); U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (16,618 acres)
Self-Clearing Permit required for all activities.
South Farm: No hunting allowed on South Farm EXCEPT lottery hunts
and EXCEPT open migratory game bird hunting is allowed during early
teal season, statewide youth waterfowl seasons, and any open goose
seasons that occur after the close of Duck Season.
Physically Challenged Deer and Waterfowl Hunting Areas: Access restrict-
ed. Call the Lafayette Field Office for details. Hunting by reservation
for wheelchair confined PCHP permittees only. Same hunting sea-
sons listed below.
Bird Dog Training Area: Open to bird dog training year-round EXCEPT
CLOSED during either-sex modern firearm hunts for deer and open-
ing weekend of first and second segments of dove season. Contact
the Lafayette Field Office (337-262-2080) for more information.
AREA CLOSED: Closed Oct. 31 - Nov. 1 to all hunters, EXCEPT youth
and physically challenged deer hunters.
Deer Archery (bucks only): Oct. 1-15
Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 16 - Feb. 15
Deer Youth and Physically Challenged (either-sex): Oct. 31 - Nov. 1. ALL
OTHER SEASONS CLOSED. Self-clearing permits.
Deer Youth Lottery (either-sex): Oct. 31 - Nov. 1, Dec. 28 and Jan. 3 &

Deer Firearms (either-sex): Nov. 27-28, mandatory deer check.
Nov. 29 and Dec. 5-6, self-clearing permit.

Turkey: CLOSED
Waterfowl, Snipe, Rail and Gallinules: Same as outside EXCEPT

Small Game: Same as outside EXCEPT CLOSED Oct. 31 - Nov. 1, Nov.
27-29 and Dec. 5-6. Non-toxic shot only within waterfowl impound-
ments. Beagles allowed for rabbits and dogs allowed for squirrel
hunting Nov. 1 - Feb. 28, EXCEPT CLOSED during any gun deer sea-
son (modern or primitive firearms). OPEN to squirrel hunting during
the spring season, May 1-9, with or without dogs. On that portion
designated as Small Game Emphasis Area, same as outside.
–   Youth Squirrel Hunt: Sept. 26-27
Quail: CLOSED
Raccoon (nighttime): Sept. 12-27 and Jan. 11 - Feb. 28
Crawfishing: March 15 - July 31. Crawfish harvest limited to 100
pounds per person per day. No traps or nets left overnight. No
motorized water craft allowed on farm complexes.
WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREAS
SODA LAKE
Owner: Caddo Levee District (1,191 acres); U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers (1,200 acres, Minden Office)
Self-Clearing Permit required for all activities. Motorized vehicles al-
lowed on designated trails. Bicycles allowed. Vehicle parking allowed
only in designated parking areas. That portion west of Twelve Mile
Bayou closed to fishing Oct. 1 - March 31.
Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 1 - Jan. 31
Small Game and Waterfowl:
–   Portion West of Twelve Mile Bayou: NO FIREARMS HUNTING
ALLOWED. Small game and waterfowl hunting allowed by
FALCONRY METHOD ONLY. Dates and times for FALCONRY ONLY
hunting are the same as on the other portion of the WMA.
–   Portion East of Twelve Mile Bayou: Same as outside, EXCEPT
WATERFOWL CLOSED after 12 noon, and OPEN to squirrel hunt-
ing during the spring season, May 1-9, with or without dogs.
Beagles allowed for rabbits and dogs allowed for squirrel hunting
Dec. 19 - Feb. 28.
SPRING BAYOU
Owner: LDWF (12,506 acres, Lafayette Office)
Self-Clearing Permit required for all activities. No hunting allowed in
Headquarters area. Only overnight campers allowed in the improved
Boggy Bayou Camping area. Rules and Regulations posted at campsite.
Water skiing prohibited EXCEPT allowed in Old River and Grand Lac.
AREA CLOSED: Oct. 31 - Nov. 1 to all hunters EXCEPT Youth Hunters.

Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 16 - Feb. 15
Deer Youth (either-sex): Oct. 31 - Nov. 1

and dogs allowed for squirrel hunting Jan. 18 - Feb. 28. WATERFOWL
to remain open during either sex firearms hunts for deer.
–   Youth Squirrel Hunt: Sept. 26-27
Raccoon (nighttime): Sept. 12-27 and Jan. 18 - Feb. 28
Recreational Fishing: Same as outside EXCEPT only allowed after 2
p.m. during waterfowl season, EXCEPT during early teal season, rec-
reational fishing allowed after 10 a.m.
–   Crawfish: March 15 - July 31. Recreational only, 100 lbs per per-
son per day.
Commercial Fishing: Gill and trammel nets 3.5 inches and greater,
allowed from close of waterfowl seasons to last day of February, via
permit only, issued from the Lafayette Field Office.
