EXCEPT Point Farm Unit and Restricted Areas (cont.)
Small Game: Same as outside EXCEPT CLOSED during bucks only fire-
arms season and OPEN to squirrel hunting during the spring season,
May 1-9, with or without dogs. Beagles prohibited October through
December.
Recreational Fishing: The harvest of all fish, shrimp, crabs and craw-
fish is for recreational purposes only and any commercial use is pro-
hibited. All castnet contents shall be contained and bycatch returned
to the water immediately.
Shrimp: may be taken by the use of cast nets only. During the inside
open shrimp season, 25 lbs per boat or vehicle per day (heads on)
maximum shall be permitted. Size count to conform with open
season requirements. During the inside closed season, 10 lbs per
boat or vehicle per day (heads on) may be taken for bait.
Oyster Harvesting: PROHIBITED
Fish: may be taken only by rod and reel or hand lines for recre-
ational purposes only.
Crabs: may be taken only through the use of hand lines or nets;
however, none are to remain set overnight. No drop nets left
unattended at any time. A maximum of 12 drop nets may be
possessed/attended per boat or vehicle. Twelve dozen crabs
maximum are allowed per boat or vehicle per day.
Crawfish: may be harvested in unrestricted portions of the WMA
and shall be limited to 100 lbs per person per day. Gear used to
catch crawfish shall not remain set overnight.
Point Farm Unit (Pointe-aux-Chenes)
Self-Clearing Permit Required for all activities on Point Farm Unit. An
approximately 1,300-acre area inside the Pointe-aux-Chenes WMA
which is generally bounded on the west by the double gates behind
the Montegut Middle School, the Point Farm Levee and the WMA
boundary, and on the north by the WMA boundary, and is bounded
on the east and south by the Point Farm ridge levee. The boundary of
Point Farm is more accurately marked with signs. Point Farm gate will
be open all Saturdays during the month of February, weather permit-
ting. Parking in designated areas required for mourning dove hunt-
ing. No motorized vessels allowed in the drainage ditches. EXCEPT for
mourning dove hunting, (provided for below) all other hunting closed
until after the last day of youth deer hunts.
Limited Use Area: Archery only, firearms prohibited. See WMA map for
specific location.
AREA CLOSED: Oct. 3-4 & 10-11 to all EXCEPT Youth Deer Hunters.
Deer Youth Lottery (either-sex): Oct. 3-4 & 10-11. Daily Youth Hunt
Permit required. Hunting by pre-application lottery only. Visit www.

Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 16 - Jan. 14
Waterfowl: CLOSED
Small Game: Same as outside, EXCEPT CLOSED until the day after the last
youth deer hunt day and OPEN to squirrel hunting during the spring
season, May 1-9, with or without dogs. Beagles prohibited October and
November. Non-toxic shot only south of the dove field gate.
Mourning Dove: Hunting will be permitted each day during the
September split and each day of the second and third splits (AFTER
the last youth deer hunt day). Gates will be opened on Saturdays
during the first and second segments, weather permitting, EXCEPT
during waterfowl season and Youth Deer Hunt weekends. Parking
will be allowed in designated areas only. Non-toxic shot only south
of the dove field gate.

1-9, with or without dogs. Beagles allowed for rabbit and squirrel
hunting with dogs allowed Dec. 14-25 and Jan. 4 - Feb. 28. On that
portion designated as Small Game Emphasis Area, beagles allowed for
rabbit and dogs allowed for squirrel Oct. 3-30, Nov. 30 - Dec. 11 and
Dec. 14-25, and training of beagles for rabbit and dogs for squirrel
allowed June 1 - Aug. 31.
Youth Squirrel Hunt: Sept. 26-27
Raccoon (nighttime): Sept. 12-27 and Jan. 4 - Feb. 28
Sport Fishing: Same as outside EXCEPT allowed only after 2 p.m.
during waterfowl season and EXCEPT open after 10 a.m. during early
teal season.
Crawfish: March 15 - July 31. Recreational only. 100 lbs per per-
son per day. No nets or traps may be left overnight.
Commercial Fishing: Permitted Monday through Friday, via permit only,
issued from the Lafayette Field Office. CLOSED during duck season

Acme Levee Road, west of LA Hwy. 15, southward to Old River Control
Structure, thence south to Sugar Mill Chute, will be closed Oct. 31 -
Nov. 1, to all hunters EXCEPT youth and physically challenged hunters.
The remainder of the area is open to all other use.
In the Waterfowl Impoundment, operation of internal combustion en-
gine powered vessels prohibited 12 noon to 4 a.m. from Nov. 1- Jan.
